1981
The last show of the summer season will feature the songs from the year 1981! There were some acts that released their first album that year, some released their last album, and some released their best album and there was a 2nd musical British Invasion, and 2 of the biggest names in music collaborated and released one helluva song!
There were performers over the year that passed away and some of the biggest names in pop music today were born. a movie star was inaugurated President of the United States and the music world was still in shock, mourning the assassination of one of the most influential singer/songwriters in rock n roll' history....
MTV was introduced in 1981, there was a new video games that was all the rage, and millions were playing with a toy that no one could figure out, also in 1981 IBM struck a deal with a lil unknown computer software company called Mirco Soft.
Some of the popular TV shows of 1981 were M*A*S*H , Alice, and Private Benjamin, all 3 of those shows were based on popular movies of the 70’s, while 2 other popular shows The Dukes of Hazard and Charlie’s Angels were recently released on the big screen …… and sad but true…in 1981 The Muppet Show was canceled
Chariots of Fire won The Academy Award for Best Picture in 1981 but it was Indiana Jones who stole the show, and after 27 years later is still one of the most popular characters the silver screen has ever seen……….
But the music of 1981 is what you’ll be hearing….
So Tune in this week .

i was thinking of a show in which i played nothing but cover tunes, but once i got to really thinking it through, i decided on a show in which all the tunes covered were the work of only one man and his mighty pen, there is only one man that came to mind....Singer, song writer, author, and poet, Grammy winner, Academy award winner, and a nominee for the Pulitzer Prize in Literature too many times than i can count. 2nd only to the Beatles in my book........Bob Dylan is the best there is, ever was, and ever will be! below is just a small sample of the acts/bands/and performers that are still swimming in his wake!
All Along the Watchtower/Jimi Hendrix
Absolutely Sweet Marie/Jason and the Nashville Scorchers
One More Cup of Coffee/The White Stripes
Positively 4th Street/Violent Femmes
All I Really Wanna Do/The Byrds
My Back Pages/The Byrds
Mr.Tambourine Man/The Byrds
Just Like a Woman/Richie Havens
Blowin' in the Wind/Peter, Paul, and Mary
It Aint Me Babe/The Turtles
Tangled Up In Blue/Great White
Maggie's Farm/Rage Against the Machine
A Hard Rains A Gonna Fall/Ave Wynne or Edie Brickell
The Mighty Quinn/Manfred Mann
Knockin On Heavens Door/Guns N' Roses
Subterranean Homesick Blues/Red Hot Chili Peppers
enjoy!
